The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

Brief Summary Book of The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

Each day, I meticulously clean the Winchesters’ magnificent house, leaving no corner untouched. Taking on the role of a caring nanny, I pick up their daughter from school and prepare a scrumptious meal for the entire family. However, I dine alone in my cramped room on the top floor, far from the grandeur below.

I try my best to ignore Nina’s manipulative games, deliberately creating messes for me to clean and spinning strange lies about her own daughter. I also notice how Andrew, her husband, seems to be growing more despondent with each passing day. Yet, when I catch a glimpse of Andrew’s sorrowful brown eyes, it becomes difficult not to fantasize about living Nina’s seemingly perfect life—a life adorned with a walk-in closet, a luxurious car, and a seemingly flawless husband.

Curiosity once leads me to try on one of Nina’s immaculate white dresses, just to experience her world briefly. However, she soon discovers my secret experiment, and I find myself trapped in a dreadful revelation—the door to my attic bedroom locks from the outside, leaving me powerless.

Yet, despite my predicament, I cling to the reassurance that the Winchesters remain unaware of my true identity. They don’t know the extent of my capabilities, the secrets I carry within.
